Can you use Google's voice recognition function if you have Siri, without
jailbreaking?

6.1.2 is the last iOS version that you can jailbreak. It is true that 6.1.3
cannot be jailbroken and the last I heard is that the folks are not even
working on it. There is actually a petition online that people are signing
to try to motivate them a little bit. We will see how it goes

Yeah, last I knew, you could do an untethered jail break 6.1.2 but not
6.1.3.

Damn, this alone might get me to jailbreak. Has iOS 6 graduated to the
untethered type jailbreak? I've never done it before, so forgive the dumb
question.

Subject: For jailbreakers.. Replace Siri with Google now
Hi
If your familiar with the Google search app then you know about the
Google
version of Siri.
If you don't then imagine the same thing only a little faster. The only
problem is that you have to use it from the app. Ath least until you
jailbreak.
This will work on the iPhone 4 and probably the 3s but I can't promise
anything. In the cydia store search and install now now. Its totally
free.
If you don't have Activator get that while your there. This is the tweak
that will let you assign Google now to any button or gesture.
Now get the Google search app.
Open your settings and scroll to Activator. Select if you want the action
to
happen anywhere or on the home screen and so on. Then pick the gesture or
button you want to. Start Google. You can replace the press and hold of
the
home button if you want.
Once that is done select the Google now option which will be near the top
of
your list. I set up a single tap on the status bar.
First setting up the Google app is annoying since Google doesn't feel the
need to label most of the buttons.
The first few steps are easy. Just press next a few times to get through
the
tutorial type stuff.
Then it will ask you if you want to send info back to Google or not if
you
do they will track you for traffic reports and weather and so on.
Log in to your Google account and you should be done with setting it up.
From here on out just use whatever gesture you chose to activate Google
and
speak to it. Now, all the buttons on the screen that opens aren't labeled
but the bottom center right above the home button is the listen button to
use Google again.
I know this sounds like a lot but just install Google search from the app
store. Install Activator and now now from Cydia. Configure Activator, set
Google up, label the listen button and your done.
I prefer Google to Siri just because most of the time it's faster. With
this
jailbreak ability to integrate it things are much easier.
Sorry for the long winded explanation.
Take care
Mike
