David, speaking of gestures, I've never found a use for the scrub gesture. Have you? Or do you know what it's suppose to do? If VO is jumping whilst reading character by character, you are most likely touching the display outside your flicks. Go to settings, general, accessibility, VoiceOver, practice area, then touch the middle of the display. You will be in practice mode and can practice all the gestures until you perform them correctly 100% of the time. I strongly recommend everyone do this, and do it myself whenever commands start doing funny things on my iPhone. The command structure is sound, so the funny things means I am getting sloppy with my gestures.
