both of the machines are able to talk to echo link and I had to do no port
forwarding. The problem
is when I search for a node E.G KB8WLW-R it doesn't appear however if I go to
node types repeaters
North America United States area 8 I can get to it manually. I may be missing
something but does
the IPhone app permit searching by node numbers? E.G 146520

Morning Ray, with regard to running Echolink on your iPhone the first
question that I would ask is how you have the port forwarding configured on
your dsl modem and/or wireless router if you can see stations in the search
list from your computer but not on the i-Device.
As you probably are already aware Echolink requires that ports 5198, 5199,
and 5200 be forwarded, 5198 and 99 are UDP and 5200 is TCP/IP if memory
serves correctly.
If you have some sort of setting on the router/modem which allows for
stateful packet filtering or if you have some sort of dynamic forward
setting on the device this is likely the one that you will need to pick,
whereas I'd venture a semi-educated guess that your current network setup to
permit Echolink usage forwards the 3 aforementioned ports to IP address
192.168.1.xxx
Of course you can replace 192.168.1.xxx with 172.16.0.xxx or 10.xxx.xxx.xxx
depending upon whether the device uses class a, class b, or class c IPV4
network schemes.
Next question, to find out if the issue is caused by your network config in
your home, what happens if you try to access Echolink from a second computer
if you have more than one available and accessible to you?
Good luck and hth.

Finally got that up and running on the phone but in one respect it behaves
badly. Call this one operator error but I cannot see how because when I try
to search for either a repeater or conference the program returns no results
and these are stations I know are there because I can see them on the
computer. I have tried the search with both wifi and cellular networks with
the same lack of result. My understanding is that there is no case
sensitivity in call Sign searches and partials are fine as well. Might I
have overlooked a connectivity setting?
