Hi Harmony,

First of all, unless the book that you purchased from iBooks is DRM-
free, you won't be able to read the book on your computer. I'm not
sure how you can tell that a particular book that you pay for is DRM-
free, unless you already know that the publisher or author does not
use DRM with their products. You don't mention how you are trying to
transfer content from your iPhone, but if you have connected your
iPhone to your computer via the connector cable, I would use "Transfer
Purchases". You can find this option under the "File" menu on the
iTunes menu bar. It may also come up as a button option in a dialog
window that appears if this is not the computer that you use to sync
your device. This will show up in your "Books" library. Make sure
that this is one of the libraries that you have set to be displayed
under your iTunes preferences. On your Mac, in iTunes use Command-
comma to bring up your preferences window. (On a Windows machine this
shortcut would be Control-comma). By default you will in the
"General" tab of your preferences, and there will be check boxes for
which libraries you want to "Show". If "Books" is not checked, be
sure to check it. An easier way to have your new Book purchases
automatically appear in iTunes on your Computer is to set your
preferences to automatically download. Assuming that your computer
is authorized with your AppleID, you can set up this option under the
"Store" pane of your iTunes preferences. While you still have your
iTunes preferences window up, navigate to the "Store" pane by
selecting this button in your preferences title bar. The quick way to
do this on the Mac is to press Command-4 to select the 4th of the
titlebar preference buttons, which is the "Store" button, without
having to navigate to the titlebar and press that button. On the
"Store" pane there will be a message about Automatic Downloads,
stating that "iTunes can automatically download new purchases made on
other devices using <your AppleID login name>." (The name will be
whatever your AppleID is). There will be checkboxes for Music, Apps,
and Books. If you check the box for "Books" any new iBooks purchases
will automatically download to iTunes on your computer. There will
also be a statement informing you that you can enable automatic
downloads on your iOS devices by going to Settings > Store on that
device. Either navigate to the "OK" button and press it or press
"return" (i.e. "Enter" on a Windows machine) to save your preference
settings and close the Preferences window. This setting will take
effect for new purchases.

You don't mention how you plan to read the book on your computer.
There are options, but only if the book is DRM-free. Most commercial
ebooks sold in iBooks, except from publishers who do not use DRM (like
O'Reilly, Baen, Tor, and some others) or from certain authors, use
Apple's FairPlay 2 DRM. If you want Mac-specific instructions about
ebook reading on your computer, you might want to ask these questions
on the mac-access list instead.

HTH. Cheers,

Esther
