Hi Ted, Yes, you can send a Podcast from Downcast to Dropbox. Here is what you do:
1. The Podcast has to be downloaded to your iOS device. 2. Double tap on the More button next to the Podcast. 3. On the page that opens, look for the Export button at the bottom left of the screen and double tap it. 4. Voiceover will say "Choose how to share..." and it will give the name of the Podcast. You should see 3 choices, "Share with computer", "Send to Application" and "Cancel". Double tap on "Send to Application". 5. Now you will have a list of apps which allow you to open the Podcast. This will of course differ depending on which apps you have installed. On my phone I have the following options: Open in Filer Open in Skydrive Open in Dropbox Cancel 6. Double tap on "Open in Dropbox". 7. Voiceover will say "Exporting", then after a couple of seconds (depends on how large the file is) you get the following screen: Cancel button - at the top left of the screen Dropbox, heading - at the top in the middle Save button - at the top right If you swipe right from the Save button, you hear "Name", another swipe right will read out the name of the Podcast again. Swipe right and Voiceover says "Destination", swipe right again and you hear the name of the Dropbox folder you were in when you last used Dropbox. 8. If the folder that is selected is the correct folder, you can now simply double tap on "Save" at the top right of the screen. 9. If you want to select a different folder, you can double tap on the folder name, at this point the Dropbox app opens and you get the following dialogue (I am using the example where the "Public" folder was selected: Choose a destination - at the very top all the way across. Below that is: Dropbox, Back button - at the left Public, heading - in the middle Cancel button - at the right If you swipe right after Cancel Voiceover says "Folder is Empty", I assume you might have some files listed here if you have other MP3 files in that folder. Swipe right again and you have a "Create Folder" button which is self-explanatory. Swipe right again and there is one last button "Choose Folder" which is where you want to tap if you are happy with the folder you selected. 10. Let's say I don't want to save in the Public folder, but want to see all my Dropbox folders, I would tap on "Dropbox, back button" at the top right. 11. Now I am in the main folder list of the Dropbox app, I can select another folder, it will open and you get what I described in step 9, if that is what I want I would now double tap on "Choose Folder". 12. You are now returned to the Downcast app and the dialogue I described in step 7 where you have Cancel at the top left, Save at the top right and your selected Dropbox folder is displayed at the bottom of the screen. Double tap "Save". 13. You are now once again returned to the Dropbox app and focus is placed on the Podcast you are exporting in the folder where you are uploading it to. There will be an upload progress to the right of the name and depending on the file size and your upload speed this can take some time. I used an Applevis Podcast which was about 14 Mb when I was doing/testing all this. I was sitting next to my computer and as soon as the upload finished, the file started to download to my Dropbox on the computer and shortly after Jaws announced that the file was added to my Dropbox. Keep in mind that even though you uploaded the file to your Dropbox, if you want to physically have it in your Dropbox folder on your iPhone you have to start playing it and then add it to your favorites which will then download it to your iPhone. And, after all this, I am curious why you would want to upload Podcasts to your Dropbox? If you want to share a Podcast link with somebody else, you can do this right from Downcast.
