Just received an email from MemoryExpress, a Canadian computer store and online reseller and their daily deal for this Wednesday is the following Xerox Mobile Scanner. This thing weighs 1.5 pounds and it is as wide as a letter size piece of paper is long (11.5 inches), it is 2 inches high and 2.5 inches deep/wide). As a comparison, the iPhone is 2.31 inches wide, so the scanner is basically a little less high than an iPhone standing on its long side and it's less than a quarter inch deeper than the iPhone lying in front you in landscape orientation. In terms of left to right length, the scanner would be about as long as two and a half iPhones. In short, it's compact and not that heavy. Actually, my Standscan with the double A battery adapter and 8 AA batteries is 470 grams or just over 1 pound, so this scanner is only half a pound more than the Standscan with a fully loaded battery adapter. Of course you can't scan books because given the small size this is a sheet scanner, but anything else like single sheets, business cards, receipts etc. it can do and would probably do well. I also can't speak for the accessibility of the app since you need the scanner to use the app, but I downloaded it and the introduction is accessible, after that you get to a screen where you have to enter an account name and password.
