Hi Regina, Christopher, and others, If you are using Safari on an iPhone in portrait mode (the usual way we hold the iPhone), and are having difficulty finding the search field, try tapping the top center of the screen on the status bar, just below the time. Then move your finger down to find the address bar and search field, or flick to the search field.
In iOS 6, using Safari in landscape mode, and also for some iPad pages, there's an option called full screen mode, where the toolbars disappear from the screen. If you hold you iPhone in landscape mode with Safari, there will be an extra button at the bottom right of the screen that is the "full screen" button. However, if you run your finger along the bottom edge of the screen held in landscape mode, you'll locate three buttons: "back" button at the bottom left, "forward" button, about a fifth of the screen width to the right of the "back" and along the bottom of the screen, and "exit full screen" button in the bottom right corner. Double tapping the "exit full screen" button takes you out of full screen mode, and then double tapping on the status bar item for time will bring back the address bar and Safari search fields. HTH.
