Peculiar to that class of case, had about the same thing on both defenders and Griffin Survivor cases different times. So my current one, have less protection maybe, but still good and simpler, the Otterbox Impact I think it's called, a one-piece rubbery coat, covers enough thickly enough without over bulking the device. Framing the working area of the screen is still a key bonus to me.

Both my husband and I currently have the Otter Box defender for our iPhone and honestly we aren’t really happy with it. Over time the rubber shell seems to have stretched and it no longer fits well and the covers for the ports won’t stay closed. Both of us had ours less then a year and had to take it back to the store to have it replaced since it was still under warranty. We thought maybe it was just a fluke so we now have our replacement cases and the same problem is happening with these now too. we are both in the market to get a new case and I was curious on other’s experiences with different brands. the Defender wasn’t’ exactly cheap so I would like to get others opinions before I move forward. I read the lifehacker’s top 5 cases and am not sure if any of those fit my needs. I want a case that is not bulky but one that gives complete protection, both to the sides and the screen. One that prevents scratches and can protect the phone from drops. It is the reason I first chose the Otter Box defender. I know of the Lifeproof case as a co-worker had it. I am curious since the case is water proof and completely covers the speakers, is Voiceover muffled? I would think that it would dampen sound. and I know Voiceover could still be heard but I admit I like clear crisp sound. Also, My husband has a hearing problem so that could be a very large con. The one case on Lifehacker which sort of caught my interest was the case Mate Tough case. It seems that it may have some durability though not seeing it in person I am not sure. does anyone have this case? if so, what are your thoughts? finally, my husband is also looking at cases with battery packs. we looked at the Mophie Juice pack on Amazon but it did not get good reviews. Many said that there were fakes out there. also, that it was cheaply made and the connectors broke easily. I know there were other battery cases mentioned on this list but for the life of me I can’t remember the brands. Thank you in advance for any responses. If some of this has been answered before I apoligize for generating meaningless list traffic. I did not see it when I viewed the archives. Feel free to reply off list if you would like.
