I agree, I'm not a fan of the Acapella voices either. All the apps I know of
that use them have that same restriction. So you can end up with several copies
of Heather or Ryan on your device, simply because each app has to have its own
copy. Yes, it's wasteful, but it's the standard way of offering an app with a
built-in TTS engine. I'm one of those weird people who prefers to read using HQ
Samantha. However, an even better reason for not using Read2Go's voices is that
the books cannot be read in Braille. Now that I have a Focus 14, I can read
books in Braille wherever I go. This is extremely liberating.

That's still unacceptable. The only reason they did it that way is so you have
to use there voices which suck.

Yep, and when you set it to section rather than page, you only change at the
end of each section.

enable us to use VoiceOver's navigation features, and to know how to spell
words if need be. However, having to advance it page by page like that, and
having it read the menu at the bottom of the page? No. In my opinion, the
designers of Read To Go meant it to be used primarily with its own voices. It
flows better with them.

Yes, I am using voice over. I prefer it to the other voices and I like using
the gestures to control my reading.
I feel the same about the twenty dollars for read 2 go... Its worth it just for
all their good work.

I was wondering if you might be using VoiceOver, rather than the Acapella

quickly concluded that it was more trouble than it was worth to have to advance
it to the next page, or section myself.

Being that I already have Read To Go, and don't mind using its Heather voice, I
have not gotten Voice Dream. But I have heard very good things about it. If
you decide to get Voice Dream and stop using Read To Go, just think of that $20
as a contribution to BookShare.

That's really odd. At first, I thought it was the book I was reading, which is
long and not terribly well marked up. However, my mother just read the same
book on her 4S and the app never crashed once. I'm also wondering if it has to
do with the large number of books I've downloaded, though that doesn't make
much sense. BTW, I forgot to mention I'm reading using HQ Samantha instead of
the Acapella voices.

Hi Sarah,
This happens to me and I have an iPhone 4S. I think it has something to do with
the download of the book, although this is only a guess.

Hi,

I'm having an issue with Read2Go. Before I take the sledge hammer approach and
uninstall and reinstall, I thought I'd ask if anyone else has been experiencing
this. I download a book into Read2Go and start reading. A few sections in, when
I tap the Next Section button, the app crashes. I open the app again, open the
book, and try tapping Next Section again. It crashes every time. The only way I
can progress through a book is to go to the table of contents and select the
next section. Then I may be able to proceed by tapping Next Section once or
twice, but eventually the app will always crash. I have an iPhone 5. My mother,
who is reading the same book I am, has an iPhone 4S and isn't experiencing this
issue at all. The reason I haven't already broken out the sledge hammer is that
I have around one hundred books downloaded into the app and I'd like to avoid
downloading them again if at all possible. If this is one of those quirks of
the 5, I'll live with it, as it's not quite a show-stopper, though it does get
annoying. Thanks for any thoughts or suggestions.

Sarah
