A couple of things I assume we're doing all this moving about through ITunes?
Also tune in radio

Ray,

How did you get all those entries into your Contacts list? I'm not asking
this to chide you in any way, but if you added them the way I think you may
have getting rid of a whole slug of 'em should be a breeze.

Here's what I'm thinkin' you did to add 'em in the first place; you
connected your iPhone to your PC and sync'ed "Information" from your PC to
your iPhone. This would have taken all of the entries off your PC Contacts
and obligingly copied them to your iPhone.

If this be the case, well sir, you are in luck. Here's what you need to do:

- On your PC, create a back-up folder of some kind for the Contacts you do
not want on your iPhone
- again, on your PC, go to your active Contacts folder and select each of
the entries you do not want on the iPhone
- using <CONTROL>+X, delete all those contacts you've just selected from
your active Contacts folder
- remember that "back-up folder" I advised you to create before, well go
there and using <CONTROL>V paste all those unwanted entries into this folder
- now, sync "Information" from your PC to the iPhone (yes, this will cause
only the entries still in your active Contacts folder to be present on your
iPhone)
- finally, if you still want all those Contacts you just moved to the
"back-up folder" present in your PC's active Contacts, move them back to the
active folder and be careful to not sync your iPhone again without repeating
these steps

This has worked for me every time I've needed to get rid of a contact on my
iPhone, although I usually wait until there's at least 5 or so before going
through all this turmoil.

Subject: contacts do not delete

I have more contacts in the phone than I want. I have so far been unable to
remove them. Clicking
delete under the edit menu for each contact results in the following "the
linked contact will not be
deleted" I am still presented with a delete button. However, the contact is
not removed. What am I
missing and how can I remove these contacts short of an all out reset?
