When on the direct message in TweetList, have you tried doing a 1
finger triple tap? This will bring up several options, including a URL
button, which if you double tap that will bring up more options like
Copy. I heard someone on Twitter explain the triple tap and double tap
and hold like this: Imagine that the triple tap is like saying, "Me,
me, me!" These are things that you want to do with the tweet, like
view usernames, open a URL, or even copying or emailing the tweet.
Picture the double tap and hold gesture like a hand shake, in that you
shake once and then shake a secodn time, but then hold the other
person's hand a little longer. Same as when doing a double tap and
hold. This is used when interacting with others, like when you want to
reply to, direct message, or retweet a tweet you have gotten. I don't
know why these gestures would not work on direct messages. These are
gestures specifically for TweetList, though other Twitter apps may
have their own gestures or ways of doing things.
