Hi Chris, The 8 MP camera on the 4S and 5 is definitely a fair bit better. As for your lack of success with Prizmo, have you ever had a sighted person try this? It would tell you very quickly whether the problem is the camera or the fact that the picture you take is not focused enough, too blurry or whether the lighting is to blame. There is a possibility that if it is daylight and you use the flash you over-expose the picture which could be just as bad as if it is too dark.
Keep in mind that this fall there also will be a new iPhone right around the time when you are allegeable to upgrade and there is a great likelihood that this new phone will have at least a 12 MP camera and hopefully other improvements which will allow developer of apps like Prizmo to achieve even better results.
