I've tried several of these; and, by just searching in the app
store for breaking news, I've found and been using Breaking News
by Vijay Anand for the past few months. I'll give the US app

The NYTimes app puts headlines in the notification center. If
you tap on
one, it brings up the app focused in Top News, so you can usually
find the
article mentioned. YOu don't have to subscribe to the Times to
use this
functionality.
