Hallo Zoe, okay, at the moment, I do not know what the problem is. The exit gesture works well on an iPhone 4S, here. Although I know that it is not a good solution, I can only recommend you to turn VoiceOver of and to press the back button in the lower left, then. I have to think about an alternative exit method for VoiceOver users.
