True, though, like the old days with iOs updates, it is even yet dependent on iTunes, whether you got another device for it, or not. Some only have their iDevice, where does it leave them? though also true, they'd not get a lot of their other material to it either, if that were totally true.

While you can't create it and have it placed directly into your ringtones folder on your device where it would be instantly available, I don't find that extra step too difficult or time consuming. If I use an app that can email me the ringtone, I just save the attachment in my Tones folder in iTunes Media, then I press enter on it which forces iTunes to open, play the tone and by doing so add it to my Tones library. Then all I have to do is make sure it's selected/checked in the Tones section when my iPhone is connected since I choose to only sync selected tones and do the sync. I'd say it would take me about 1 minute to save the attachment, open my Tones folder, play the tone and then sync it. I'd be happy to be wrong on this one, but hung about here for ages hoping such a beast appeared. If you want to do so on the phone you have to use an app such as Ringtone Wizard or Ringtone Architect and there are many more of them out there. I suggest you check www.Applevis.com for reviews. If you want to use iTunes let me know and I can send you a set of instructions about how to do this. It's not difficult if you are an average computer user and know things like how to show file extensions in Windows, how to rename a file with a different extension, copying and pasting and how to sync via iTunes. The latter you have to do regardless whether you create the ringtone with an app or with iTunes. The only way you can download ringtones directly to your phone is if you buy them in iTunes. Anyhow, let me know, you can write me off-list if you like since I posted this a few times over the last year or 2. My email is [email protected]. Also let me know what you are using, i.e. which version of Windows, Jaws and iTunes. Regards, Sieghard -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the "VIPhone" Google Group.
