Unfortunately, we are not told what calendars are highlighted. What I do is 
deselect all of them and then select the ones I want. Generally, that is going 
to be your main calendar and birthdays, with perhaps a calendared you 
subscribed to, such as baseball, etc. 

I believe the birthdays calendar is populated from the information in your 
contacts. There, you can add birthdays and anniversaries. I prefer to manually 
input my birthdays and I don't use those fields in contacts.
