Hi Joanne, I assume you have another iDevice like an iPhone or iPod Touch? If so, make sure you go to Settings and iTunes and App Store and make sure that automatically download apps is turned off. I can't say for sure if that is the problem since I don't own 2 iDevices, but it's worth to check.

I've try closing the appstore completely and restart, i've try reboot the ipad both soft reboot and hard reboot. The only thing i haven't try is to do a complete reset/restore of the ipad.
