Lisa, You mentioned needing to 3 finger swipe left/right in order to get to the play/pause controls. Did you also know that these controls are at the bottom of the screen in TuneIN Radio? If I start playing a station from my favorites, I generally touch near the bottom of the screen and find all of the things you referenced: play, pause, volume, stop, and rewind/fast forward. Volume is the slider at the bottom, and the play/pause button is above that, in the area of the home button. In other words, if you find the home button and then move straight up, you will either hit or very nearly hit the play/pause button.
