Andy and others,

You are correct, the new MyCharge battery packs apparently are doing away
with the spoken battery level. I do have the one that does speak and it's a
nice feature, butit is not so difficult to get used to how often a
particular battery pack can charge your phone and in any case, all of these
new batteries don't mind it if you charge them frequently and without them
being completely empty. I know, for example, that my Peak 6000 charges my
phone twice completely and then a bit more, so if I am down to 20% or less
and use the battery to charge my iPhone 4S then I know that after I do this
twice I have to definitely charge the battery.

I think an even more compelling advantage of the MyCharge batteries is the
integrated cables, a 30-Pin connector in addition to a Micro USB and some
others on the older ones and a Lightning connector in addition to Micro USB
on the new one.

However, the Peak 6,000 is basically the same size as even the 18,000 MA
Limeade which costs the same and has 3 times the capacity and that is also a
very compelling reason why if I had to choose today I'd buy the Limeade. For
half the price of a Peak 6000 you can buy the smallest of the Limeade packs
which still has double the capacity. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw the
prices for external batteries coming down over the enxt couple of years as
more and more phones have non-replaceable batteries and demand for these
increases hence there will be more competition and it will be cheaper to
make them.

Sieghard

The My Charge Peak 6000 gives you spoken feedback on charge status, but
hurry if you want one, because the new model will not speak.

Andrew,

If you are looking to get an external battery then this sounds like a good
one. If I hadn't bought a $99 MyCharge Peak 6,000 I would probably spring
for any one of the three options, which one you get is completely your
choice and should be based on whether you want small size or not. But even
their smallest unit with 13,000 MA should charge an iPhone 4 or 5 times over
completely. At $50 that is an incredible value. The big one with 18,000 MA
gets 4.8 out of 5 with almost 700 ratings and it doesn't get much better
than that.

Sieghard
