HeyPeter, I use the Direct Tv app pretty much all the time now and it does give that same feature. We just don't have our receiver set up right now for it to control directly but it can and when we did and I had it up and going it worked out great and does well once everything's in place. Charter I don't think has an app but I can say Direct Tv's app is wonderfully accessible and once you get the hang of where everything is, it's a breeze.
