Hi Allen,

The iPhone and, for that matter the iPad and iPod Touch, have what is called
the Notification Center. You get to it by touching an item in your status
bar, e.g. the time or the battery level, then when focus is in the status
bar, you place 3 fingers on the screen simultaneously and pull down towards
the bottom of the phone. I suggest you put the fingers on the screen a bit
above the middle and then pull down maybe an inch or 2. You will hear
Voiceover say "Notification Center".

Now you can touch the screen and review all your notifications, usually for
each app which has notifications such as messages, calendar, reminders etc.
there is a section and at the top of each section is a Clear button which
allows you to clear these notifications from the notification center.

If, for example, you see there is a text message or maybe you have a news
app which sends you push notifications about headlines, you can double tap
on that right in the notification center and the appropriate app will open
and usually put focus on the item like a particular text message, email etc.

There is also a Notification Center item in the Settings app and I suggest
you go there and check which of your apps are included in the Notification
Center. You may realize that some of the apps that send push notifications
are not apps you want and you can double tap on these and switch the
"Include in Notification Center" button to Off. This doesn't necessarily
mean you won't get push notifications from these apps any more, but the
notifications won't be included in Notificaion Center.

If you have apps where you don't even want to get any alerts or banner
notifications (the latter just appear for a few seconds in your status bar
and then they go away) you can set the notification style to "None" in that
same area.

Hope this helps,

Sieghard

Subject: notifications

Hi,

I'm doing something wrong. Occasionally I receive notifications but I can't
figure out how to see any of them.

I received a notification earlier today. I checked voice mail and messages
but neither area had a new message.

Are notifications in a separate area on an iPhone and, if so, how do I
access this notifications area?

Someone, much more intelligent than me, please help to relieve my
frustration.

Thanks

Allen
