Thanks for that suggestion. That got me back to experimenting a bit. Didn't seem to matter although I thought at first it did. I put in the country code at the beginning of a contact I had deleted and recreated. However, I did that to one I didn't create and it didn't seem to make a difference.
I did notice though that the hint on a contact ringtone says "double tap to indicate a type". So, Before I went down and selected the ringtone, I went to the heading ringtone and double tapped that. Then when I selected a custom ringtone it played. It worked once but so far not the second time but at least it worked once. Interesting to me is the fact that all my contact / custom ringtones used to work just fine and I'm not sure just when that changed. Thanks for that pointer. I wonder if it has to do how you have the phone number entered in your Contacts. I guess an easy way to find out is to check how Voiceover announces a caller you want to assign a ringtone to. For example. Assume you have somebody by the name of Jack Miller in your contacts and Jack's phone number is 202-555-1234. Now, get Jack to call you and see if Voiceover says "Call from Jack Miller" or if Voiceover says "Call from 202-555-1234". I think if it says "Call from 202-555-1234" this might be the problem. Has anyone found any resolution to the problem? I can assign a ringtone to default and it plays nicely. If I put something else in as default and assign the first ringtone to a contact it does not play when I receive a call from that contact. I still get the default. Has anyone found an answer or shall I just hope for a fix in IOS 7? Regards, Wayne -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the "VIPhone" Google Group.
