I know from just tonight that Siri is a god send to people who cannot write very well due to a learning difficulty for example.

And also as I pointed out, each person has to make that choice for
themselves. For somebody with limited use of their hands, siri may be a
God send. For somebody who doesn't do much web browsing or have many
contacts, siri might not be any big deal. I can't even say for
certainty that I will use siri all that often. The iPhone 4 doesn't
have it however, from some of the siri like apps I've tried, it seemed
more bother then it was worth. Going from my iPhone 4 to the 5S makes
sense and I can afford it having saved up the money long ago. Only you
can tell if it's a right choice for you.

If everyone used that logic, Alan, you would have had a 5 by now.
Frankly, I see more rationale to move from a 4, if anything just to
get Siri.

But, if Tess doesn't do a lot of OCR or photography, it may not be
worth the jump. You'd need a different case, different screen
protector, if you connect the iPhone to anything you'll need a
lightning connector adapter, granted those aren't big expenses, but if
you don't plan to take advantage of the improved processing for
intensive apps or use the improved photographic features, then there
may not be a big reason to upgrade.

You would be going up 2 models. It probably would be worth it. If
it were me, and I was going from a 4S to a 5S I'd do it. Sense I'm
going from a 4 to a 5S I'm for sure going to do it.

I am torn myself.
I have the 4S, and waited until this came out, but I am wondering if
it is
really worth spending money for it, or just wait until another year
or so
and see if something else comes afloat.

Those are my views as well. This will be a great upgrade for those
of us
that are on the 4s cycle and eligible for an upgrade with their
carrier of
choice. For those on an iPhone 5, although the 5s has some really nice
improvements, it probably wouldn't be worth paying full price for
one and
would make more sense waiting a year for the iPhone 6. I'm
definitely going
for the 5s but I have to admit thatg I'm somewhat disappointed that
there's
no pre-order possible for that model. Not sure but I believe Apple's
thinking behind that is wanting to create more excitement and crazy
lines at
the retail stores.

Best regards,

Hi, these are my thoughts as well. When I got the 4S in February
last year
and then saw the 5 out later that year it wasn't worth it to
upgrade. Not
only that, but it was too soon money-wise, but with the differences
between
4S and 5S, and the time elapsed, it's worth it to me and I'll be
getting
this one. I'm looking forward to the new 64-bit chip and a better
camera.
The fingerprint capabilities is also a nice thing to me.

precise motion
tracking system, and fingerprint unlocking. The first three will
provide
significantly improved OCR, object recognition, barcode scanning,
and colour
recognition. The fourth will provide more accurate motion tracking for
things like distance measurement and certain types of app / Siri
activation.
The fifth will provide much better, and yet more convenient security.
