Go to settings, general, reset, erase all content and settings. When the
pod reboots wait a minute or so and triple click home to start
VoiceOver. When asked how to set up choose the restore from backup
option then choose restore from iCloud backup. Enter the wife's Apple Id
and password then go from there.
