Hi,

It also works flawlessly on my iPhone 4.

Just to let you know the problem is likely on your device.

Hi Jed,

On my 4S sswiping up or down in the Messages app to get to the Delete option
works flawlessly and as good as always. I know this doesn't answer your
question, but at least you know that this does not seem to be an issue
others experience since nobody has posted about it that I can remember. The
increased touch screen sensitivity is an issue in some situations and I
wonder if maybe your gesture is misinterpreted in some way. I recommend you
try and do the gesture in the practice area (start it with a 4-finger double
tap).

The action rotor is only in the rotor when it is being used and it appears
and disappears automatically. You typically don't have to manually turn the
rotor to the Action setting since it is selected by default if, for example,
you open the mail app, the Messages app, in the list of Podcasts in
Downcast, the list of Books or parts of books in the Audible app etc.

You can always delete text messages by double tapping on the Edit button at
the top left of the main screen in the Messages app, it becomes a "Done"
button and until you tap on Done there will be a delete switch to the left
of each text message.

As for Containers, they have very little to do with hell since they do not
contain water in this case which might be useful in such a hot place.
What they are are areas on the screen which contain certain types of
information. For example, if you open an email in the mail app, the email
header is a container, the body of the email is in another container and the
buttons along the bottom like Mark, Delete, Reply etc. are yet a third
container. Containers have been present on the iPad for some time and as of
iOS 7 are also used on the iPhone. If you turn the rotor to containers in my
email example, you can swipe between email header, body and the buttons
along the bottom with just a few swipes.

Regards,
Sieghard

Subject: severe difficulty deleting text messages

Hey guys,

Deleting text messages seems to be quite flakey.
I go and flick down on delete, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.
Another concerning issue in the roter, I see stuff like characters, words,
and sometimes I get actions, sometimes I don't. There is another thing
called containers? What the hell is a container?
How should I delete these text messages?
