You now want to go into Settings -> Mail, contacts, Calendars and double
tap on your Gmail account. In the next menu double tap on your Gmail
account again and then double tap on the Advanced button. Here you'll
see an option on what to do with your discarded messages. You want to
move them into your deleted folder.
You should still have a delete button at the bottom of each individual
message. If your roter is set to action then you should be able to flick
up or down to get to the Trash option.

hi gang! I can't seem to delete any of my thousands of Gmail messages that are
now on my iPhone. Smile. I know that at one point there was an option in the
settings menu to turn archive off in the Gmail account, but that does not seem
to be there anymore I have tried to use the rotor with actions but that does
not seem to work either. Delete seems to work and all my other accounts except
for my Gmail account. I am sorry if this has been talked about earlier but it
is getting 92 impossible to keep up with all the many emails, so high may have
missed something
