Hi James, If you get a completely new Apple iDevice and turn it on right out of the box, triple click home will start Voiceover so that the rest of the setup process is accessible. AT that point Voiceover on/off is set as the triple click home option as well. However, if you get sighted help to go through the setup process, triple click home will not work by default, then somebody would have to turn on Voiceover for you or, if SIRI was enabled during the setup you could ask SIRI to do so. I think it's really nice that now it's possible not only to use SIRI to open apps, turn off or on things like Bluetooth or WiFi, but also that you can get right into the deeper setting levels, e.g. instead of having to tap Settings, General, Accessibility of to say "Open Settings" then tap General and Accessibility, you can now just say "Accessibility Settings" or "Open Accessibility Settings" and SIRI will go straight there.
You can also say the following (it works with or without the word Open): SIRI Settings Notification Settings Do Not Disturb Settings Sound Settings Privacy Settings Location settings There are probably more, but for me these are probably the ones I would use the most. This is a bit inconsistent because if I say "General Settings" SIRI tells me that I don't have an app called General or that he can't do that. Again, because it's not actually enabled by default. At least, none of the devices I've had a hand in setting up have ever had that option. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Christopher Chaltain Sent: September 28, 2013 11:41 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: turn on voice over without siri Ah, I assumed that when you used the triple click home to start VoiceOver during the set up process then this would be set.
