The solution requires you becoming much more precise with your finger
movements. What people are calling increased screen sensitivity is actually a
shorter delay after initial touch before VO interprets the gesture command. So,
when there is slight hesitation just above the display before performing the
gesture, VO moves focus to the actual location of the finger. This gives the
appearance of VO jumping. Start your flick before touching the screen, and
finish the movement after you have lifted your finger(s) from the display.
Always listen to what VO is reporting now rather than thinking you already
know. If you have accidentally shifted VO, this will keep you from entering
characters in the wrong place.

Use the single finger double-tap in the edit field. This command moves the
cursor to the beginning, or the end, of the text in the edit field. From either
location, character and word navigation becomes easier. Don't become frustrated
if you need to do this multiple times. You will adjust to what works properly
on the iPhone after a little practice.

These are the steps I followed when I first taught myself to use the iPhone, so
I never experienced the touchscreen problems so many people have experienced
until I set out to reproduce the problems.
