Yes, I imagine that this wasn't an enhancement as much as it was
likely an oversight on Apple's part. I remedied the situation by
having my phone mark previously received mail as read, although the
fact that it's still downloading eleven thousand email messages is a
bit concerning. I'm hoping apple will revert back to letting us set an
appropriate limit, especially since I really don't need additional
reminders of how irresponsible I am about responding to or deleting
emails!
