I have never found it difficult to find these buttons, End especially is and has been there right above the homekey and a couple of swipes left from End is the Earpiece/Speakerphone button. You can also use the flick up or down gesture (Action Rotor) to delete entries in the Recent tab, e.g. a phone call or text chat.
