Hi, I just updated and found the speaker button easy to find. I did have one interesting thing happen. I tapped the speaker button as someone was speaking, and for a tiny fraction of time, the volume spiked so that there was a very loud sound of that person speaking. This may simply have been an aboration, but at least I found the button easy to find.

You can also use the flick up or down gesture (Action Rotor) to delete entries in the Recent tab, e.g. a phone call or text chat.
