Hi Larry,

This is a great question for Google and a search for "Apple October 2013
event" gave me this as the first result and many more like it:

Apple iPad 5: Launch event rumoured for 15 October

Apple is preparing to host a media event next week with strong rumours
suggesting the fifth generation of the iPad will be the subject.
The 15 October event will reportedly see a new version of the iPad released,
according to ChristianToday.com, with the same site seeming to confirm that
the iPad Mini will see some sort of delay.
It's anticipated the iPad 5 will be given a major redesign and look a lot
like the iPad Mini to the naked eye with a lighter and thinner design being
put in place and the screen size staying the same as previous versions.
Most rumours so far have pegged the height of the new device as being
greater than the fourth generation model and the width being a lot lower.
The volume buttons are likely to have been separated with the speakers moved
to the foot of the device as well as an additional microphone on the rear of
the tablet.
Under the hood the iPad 5 should have one of Apple's new A7 chips
complemented by an M7 coprocessor.

The iPad Mini 2, meanwhile, is likely to be delayed with the latest rumours
suggesting it won't be unveiled alongside the new iPad. Apple is hoping to
introduce the retina display to the iPad Mini for the first time and last
week it was rumoured that it is having trouble sourcing enough retina
displays for the new device. It follows similar rumours in the past few
weeks that have pointed to supply issues being behind the delayed unveil
date.
Apple may not have even decided on which company will provide the retina
displays with Sharp or Samsung rumoured to be the two battling it out to win
the contract. Apart from the retina display the tablet should have an Apple
64-bit A7 chip, an M7 co-processor and come in a gold colourway.
Even if Apple does manage to release the second-generation iPad Mini
alongside its bigger brother at the launch event, it's likely the smaller
slate will be in short supply around the busy Christmas period.

If October 15 is the date we should know later today or tomorrow at the
latest as Apple would send out their press invites one week earlier which
would be today.

Regards,
Sieghard
