I never use Apple cables. The only cable I use is the one that my iPhone came with. When it went south, I bought a replacement that's one of those things where you gently pull on the ends to make the cable as long as you need it. I think I got the cable at the dollar general store. I also got another cable that I use from the head phone jack on my iPhone to a portable speaker that works the same way. Got that one for 99 cents. This is my second one at that price. The first one I had for 2 years until I lost it so I had to spend another buck here last week for a new one. I understand these cables are cheap but if you are gentle with them instead of ham handed there is no reason why they shouldn't get the job done. The retractable with the 30 pin connector on one end and a USB plug on the other I've had over 2 years and use it when I'm at my computer. Yes, Apple cables are nice but they are expensive and no better made then anybody else's cables.

I've heard that chpple is being really weird and naggy when people use cables other than those approved by them. Whether this has any truth to it or not is beyond me. I've never had to buy any new cables, from Approved by Apple or not.

Thanks,
Ari

I haven't seen it either which suggests it's something with the particular phone rather then a system wide thing.

As long as your phone and VoiceOver are responding, I wouldn't force a reset in this way. I'd perform a more graceful shutdown and restart by powering off the iPhone by holding down the lock button until the slide to power off message appears. Double tap on this message, give the phone about 30 seconds and then press the lock button for a good second or two to power on the iPhone. I would only force a reset by holding down the lock and home button for ten seconds in those situations where IOS or VoiceOver are no longer responding. I doubt anything bad will happen if you force a reset this way, but why take a chance when a more graceful option is still open to you.

BTW, I've never seen this particular issue myself, and I'm not sure this will fix it, but it's usually a good trouble shooting option.

tools on my computer to clean up errors on my system. I say that
because I was having a problem on my computer where sometimes when I
inserted an SD card into the SD slot to load talking books on my old
Victor Reader Stream, some times the computer wouldn't see the SD card
and there I sat thinking now what do I do but after running the system
tools on my computer the problem went away and sense we're talking the
computer the the iPhone I figure why not try both.

I am having the same problem with the trust this computer message. How
can I make it stop?

I get
the trust message but once I double tap don't trust, I never see it again
until I connect my iPhone 4 to my computer. Usually just to charge it.

Is anyone having this trouble. When I plug in my iPhone via the US
cord
to my computer, I keep getting the trust this computer message. After
I hit
trust, it keeps coming back, about a dozen times. Is the problem my
computer or something with the iPhone.
I'm using a PC with XP. Also using IOS 7 on the iPhone 4S. Thanks.
