Hi, You need to use an adaptor to connect your guitar. There are two main types, one that connects to the headphone jack and the other type which connects to the dock port.
Either type of adaptor has a plug where you plug your guitar leed in too and all have a headthhone jack. Some of the adaptors that plug in to the dock port also have line out options. So basically you either need to use headphones, or connect it to an amp or a stereo which has a line in jack.
