Some other advantages of WhatsApp over the native Messages app, relating to
WhatsApp's Groups feature, besides the cross-platform compatibility, for
some use-cases: I like the ability to create named groups whose members you
can edit in WhatsApp. Unless I am missing something, using the native
Messages app, you cannot edit who the conversation is being sent to without
starting a new message thread containing a revised list of recipients. This
has been really helpful to me when members have been added to a team I am on
at a later date; we can just add them to the group, and they can see all
messages that we sent before they joined, so they can more quickly get up to
speed. Also in the native app, you cannot have names for groups as far as I
know; messages just list all recipients when you're going through
conversations. In WhatsApp, if you have created a group, the group name will
show when you are going through your conversation list or when you have a
conversation open, and, provided that the names and mobile numbers of group
members are in your Contacts, you will also see names of individual senders
when you are actually inside the thread and going through it. When you have
a notification of a new message coming in, the native app just tells you
that sender's name; if a message has been sent to a group you're part of in
WhatsApp, the notification tells you both the group and the sender. This
feature of named groups really helps me to be more organized and to more
quickly know who I am communicating with (i.e., I might name a group after
the specific team project we are working on, the specific organization we
are heading, etc.).

Regards,
Maria

Not really Ray unless you have family and friends who do not use iOS
devices. I use Whatsapp because I have friends who use Whatsapp on other
platforms, like Android.
