I disagree that iPad is only good for big screen and visual appearance and that. For me, since i have my iPad Mini, i use my iPad pperhaps 70% of the time compare to 30% of phone use. I agree with Sieghard, that is pretty much how i use my iPad for. reading and listening to books, podcasts, messages, emails, etc. iPad has pretty much replace the role of a computer in my life, unless i'm doing some research that require i use blackboard or some ther heavy duty study. For me, the great combonation will be either 64gb or 128gb iPad or iPad Mini, and a 16GB iPhone. I'll have wifi only iPad, and uses the phone as a modem if it is require. After all, there are getting more places that have free wireless available.
As far as either to go for iPad air or iPad mini. Well, its depends on what your budget, and how big your hand is. With mini, you can pretty much hold the iPad comfortably with one hand, but with iPad Air, you may need two hands to be really comfortable. Although, with the iPad Air is thinner, and that, you still need to handle it with two hands to be comfortable. Yes, iPad 2 will be the most economical at the moment, but, again, if i'm the new buyer, i'll consider iPad mini more so than the iPad 2.Joanne Chua The flip side of Inclusion is Exclusion.
