Hi Patty, If you check the free version, it says "In App Purchases" at the bottom of the app description. If you double tap on this you get the following:
Removes ads and enables links, $0.99 In other words, the free app works just the same, you can use it and it will work as good as the paid version, but you do get ads and if you decide to check any product online you do not have the ability to tap on any links provided. If you only want it to identify stuff you should go for the free version, then you can find out if Voiceover reads the ads and if they are annoying. If so you can just find the in app purchase button and pay the 99 Cents and the ads will be removed. I found in some apps where it said there were ads that Voiceover didn't even read them.
