In my experience on the iPad with this app, it is partially accessible but not
really usable (by me, at least) without sighted assistance.

Courses I have purchased, I am told, are listed as graphic images without
labels, other than perhaps course numbers.

Once a course is selected (with sighted assistance in my case), VO is
accessible for listing lecture numbers and name and few other things. VO
announces a Play button, but then, I am told, there is a Play button / graphic
that does not appear to be activated with VO, even trying to use the
pass-through gesture. Turning off VO and letting sighted assistance activate
the button, the course then plays well, and the player controls seem mostly
usable with VO.

I have written the company outlining these concerns, and talked with a support
representative via phone-support who seemed genuinely concerned this app wasn't
accessible to the blind and that she would independently write tech support. I
did hear back from a person at the company that my concerns were received and
would be sent on to the tech specialists...but have heard nothing else.

I would encourage you to phone or email customer support at the company. The
more they hear from us, the more likely they will be to address the issue.

Subject: Great Courses app

I am curious if anybody has tried this app and if it is accessible. Great
Courses was known as teaching company. I have bought stuff from them in the
past, and now some courses are on audible. But I'm curious about the app and
its accessibility. Thinking more of an iPad rather than the phone. Can't use
the phone for everything. <smile>
