Apple has modified the way VO tracks in edit fields. There are many messages discussing this in the archives. Several of these messages claim it is a bug. In point of fact, it does not appear to be a bug. It appears to be a change which makes VO more consistent across apps.
What is happening is VO moves the cursor to the precise line where you touch in the edit box. Therefore, you need to pay more attention when typing using the onscreen keyboard. To get VO to read the entire edit box, flick into it rather than touching it and VO reads the entire box. All that said, I have discovered editing to be easier with this new tracking method.
