I would tend to agree. Although I've never owned one, it would seem to me that you would spend more time trying to find a surface that gave you the sound you liked than actually listening to it. I know the origenal was made very well and life-time warenteed. For me I just didn't want to have to drag around more junk. On the other hand, there are also many people who think the gaget was way cool and I'm ok with that.

If I want to listen to music, I use my Bose Sound Dock 10.

I wouldn't waste my money. Those things are absolute junk! The suction cups go bad on them fairly quickly, and the sound that you get is not anything to write home about.
