Hi,
I too was very frustrated with the change in the email app since iOS 7X. So
what I did was this: having made sure that I had read all the emails I wanted
to read in my inbox, I then selected edit, at the top right of the screen,
then, Mark all messages, and chose, mark as read. Now, the important thing is,
you must wait until the process is completed. In my case, four example, there
are 10,000 messages in my inbox at any one time! So, the thing to do is wait
until you hear voice-over say something. This indicates that the process is
finished, don't touch the screen before this! Now, you will find, you still
have, four example, 10,000 messages in your inbox, but they will actually only
be the headers and not the full messages as I understand it. When you next
download new messages you will find that you get a clear indication of how many
unread messages you have. This method worked for me, so I hope it works for you
too!
HTH,
Sandy
