I just tried asking Siri to turn the flashlight on to which she replied that
she was not able to do so I didn't think she would be but it cost nothing
to verify my surmise.

When you are right you are right! It is just a case of knowing when VO says
torch selected it means that the torch is active. While we're on the
subject, has anyone managed to get Siri to turn the torch on or off? he
tells me he can't do it, but, perhaps, I am not fraising it correctly.

You are completely correct! The toggle the torch needs to be properly
labelled i.e., torch on/tour Chuff.
