Hi Teresa, A shield lets you move through an area of weed killer to get to fertilizer. When you get the fertilizer, the shield is turned off, and the weed killer between you and that fertilizer is removed from the game. So always try to get the fertilizer that is farthest away, because that's how you get rid of the most weed killer. Does that make sense?
Also, don't activate multiple shields at once. It makes things more confusing. I'm also not sure whether getting a fertilizer would then deactivate all the shields.
