I can produce an ING combination whether contractions are on or off;  but 
can't seem to do an escape using dot4 to get a plus.  Good job I've not 
needed it.  Still a case for a standard method of escaping the next 
character, including the AT@ sign for the sake of consistency.
I know of dot4A for @, dot4aLetter for something else;  If dot4 was the 
standard escape character, dot4dot4 would hardly be rocket science to get 
the @, and simplify finding all the others we need, including the Plus+.
