And dare I say Apple themselves recommend Window-Eyes for their iTunes
program. Look somewhere on their website and it will tell you just that.

I am using Windows 8.1 and Window-Eyes and having no problems.
I did not know that JAWS 13 would work with Windows 8.
Have you tried NVDA as an alternative?
Or, unload JAWS and run Narrator then iTunes and see if it keeps running.
Then you can tell if it is an issue with iTunes, or with JAWS.
