Hi, I personally think the vip feature of the iPhone mail is poorly
designed and isn't worth much excepting putting mails from specific
contacts in it. Perhaps this is all it's meant to do and if that's the
case, then I guess it's fine. now, on to answer your question. There are
several apps you can use to accomplish this. However most apps will
require you to forward all your mail to a third party service and some
people don't feel right about that. If you trust the developer and you
really want this functionality, then go for it. Boxcar2 is one such
service and so is Mailtones. Boxcar is free and Mailtones costs around
$6. I used to use Boxcar quite a bit, since back in 2009 and 2010, and
it's grown over time. It's a service which allows you to get push
notifications for just about anything. mail, Twitter, Facebook, Google
Voice, ETC. I don't honestly know if you can set up filters based on the
subject, so you might have to experiment. Mailtones however can
definitely do this. I have all my mail forwarding to the service and I
have the default mail tone set to nothing and ignore. Otherwise I would
constantly be notified of new emails, especially from this list <smile>.
In any case I have it set to play a sound when I get emails from my
clients, from my bank, from specific people, and some of those are also
based on subject. So, it's highly configurable and has around 40 or 50
sounds to choose from. The developers of these types of apps say they
only store the headers of the message for processing and after that they
erase the mail. Hopefully this is true. However since I already have my
mail in the cloud on Google since that's who I use, and since the FBI
and NSA already has access to my mail, I don't really care if a
third-party has it as well. if they have that kind of time on their
hands, then so be it. So, I just don't worry about it. Mailtones is the
app I would recommend first, but as I said, it's not free.
Take care and hope this helps.

Hi all,
Is there any way that I can be notified when an e-mail with a particular
subject comes? I am using the VIP mail box feature to be notified when I get
e-mail from a specific sender. I get a lot of e-mail from automated systems.
I need to pay attention only to messages that have a certain set of keywords
in the subject header.
Note:
This is for work and my employer uses Microsoft Exchange as an e-mail
solution.
