Thanks- I had first selected albums and then tried artists and was wondering
if a choice somewhere was disabling that entire submenu. I'm finding that
the context menus in the new version are now very limited and that I have to
look around a lot to find alternative ways of selecting commands. Also have
not yet found it possible to add single songs to the phone from the PC like
before.

Hi Cher,

On the main screen of iTunes when you have Music selected are a series of
radio buttons for things like Songs, Artists, Albums etc. You have to check
the Songs radio button here, only then can you enable the column browser.

The column browser and everything else under that submenu is showing as
unavailable- any ideas what is going on? Thought the control-shift-B was
supposed to be a toggle alternative to menus, but that also changes nothing.
Not excited about changes in the latest iTunes :(
