I've never seen a screen where the app doesn't say anything. If none of the previous suggestions work then try uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Unfortunately the only way to buy books is through the Amazon store using a web browser. Finally the accessible Kindle for Pc app is different from the regular Kindle for Pc app. Try doing a search for it using quotes on the Amazon site.
