Hello Dana, The StandScan Pro can scan documents a little larger than A4 or US Letter.
I've been using the StandScan Pro for around ten months and it's very easy to assemble and works extremely well. I've used it with both my iPhone and our iPad Mini with great success. I've used it to scan pages of books and printed leaflets. I find the best way to scan a page of a book is to tuck a blank sheet of printer paper into the gutter of the book and hold it against the page I don't want scanned. This delineates the page I do want scanned very clearly.
