Hello,
When you go to the phone icon, once you double tap on it, you will then have
several tabs on the bottom.
From left to right, you have favorites, recents, contacts, Keypad and then
voicemail.
If you want to see who called you, then you would go to recents, and if you
doubletap on a phone number it will call that person.
If you want to listen to your voicemails, you will want to double tap on the
voicemail tab on the bottom right, then you will see your voicemails, and if
you doubletap on one of them it should start playing them.

Hi, every time I go to my recent or voice mail tab, I check my missed
calls and try to listen to my messages. What is the rule to be able to
listen to those messages without hitting to make a call to the person or
place that left the message. I can't seem to get it to let me hear the
message but what it does is make the call. I am sorry for asking such
elementary questions but, I end up calling my cell phone just to listen to
my messages because of it. If you can help me, it will make this iphone
